The Irish Racing Corner is a merging of two social media platforms with the same goal in mind. That goal is to promote the Irish Horse Racing scene as best as they possibly can.

Shane Rooney, Ryan Sharkey and Dean Hegarty are three young racing enthusiasts who want to collectively bring Irish Racing to a whole new level online.

Let's meet the team.

Shane Rooney is the man behind The Peaky Blogger. He set up the social media platform in March 2020 and has since become very successful.

From writing articles of heroes past and present, to YouTube tips. Shane has worked hard to promote The Peaky Blogger to where it is today.

"I wanted to create a place for people to escape the misery of lockdown, and somewhere for people to escape from the constant media commotion of Covid-19. Instead I wrote daily articles and tried to bring some light to the very dark tunnel we all were in."

"I strive to be the best I possibly can at what I do in life. At 23 years of age I feel like I have not done too bad! I have experience in writing professional articles, recording and producing podcasts."

"I am learning more and more each day, but this is by far the most exciting project I have tackled to date. Both myself and the lads from Racing Records are going to bring you a weekly show that any racing enthusiast will not want to miss."

My name is Ryan Sharkey, I'm a member of the Racing Records team and I've been doing Racing Journalism and video editing for just over a year now. I'm also the youngest member of both Racing Records and Irish Racing Corner.

I first got into video editing and journalism through my love for a horse called Thundering Blue who unfortunately passed away this year, and my first gig was doing a few pieces for group 1 winning trainer David Menuisier's website. I then went on to write for various online magazines and appear on a couple of podcasts.

That took me on quite a journey and then I ended up assembling a great team of racing people and setting up Racing Records. We've been going from strength to strength ever since day one. I've also been involved in a couple of syndicates so I've tasted ownership and indeed tasted success as an owner which is a feeling beyond imagination. I do have massive plans for the future with the Racing Records boys and hope to enjoy a fruitful spell as a successful social media page and hopefully all going to plan as successful owners.

My name is Dean Hegarty, I am part of the set up at Racing Records. My love for horse racing started when I attended the Troytown meeting at Navan Racecourse a number of years ago. From there, I was bitten by the bug.

A day at the races in Ireland really is a special experience. Now I never miss the Punchestown festival. I’ve achieved some good experience in racing now, with ownership for the last few years both in Ireland and England.

Last year I set up a syndicate in Ireland and we had plenty of fun. Unfortunately, our filly never got her head in front, she was second on four different occasions, once getting beat in a photo finish.

I tend to read into races a lot and like it when the stats add up sometimes. It definitely helps to pay close attention, especially in the National Hunt season. I hope I can bring some good insight to the group and leave the tipping to Shane & Ryan.
